Ceiba speciosa is a fast-growing deciduous tree with an open, wide-spreading canopy that grows to a height of 15-30 metres, depending on soil conditions. The large, showy flowers, which come in shades of pink, red and white, create a striking display. The bright green trunk, which is covered in thick spines when young, usually branches from quite low down. Known as the silk floss tree, it is a deciduous tree native to the tropical and subtropical forests of South America. During the dry season it sheds its leaves, revealing a uniquely patterned greenish-grey bark on the trunk, which is decorated with conical spines, much like sea limpets on a rock. These can be removed from the underside of the trunk or from branches in areas where they might catch an unsuspecting gardener.

By placing an order you are not obligated to purchase the plants online and you will not be asked for any payment at this stage.

We will confirm prices, availability and delivery/collection dates with you by email.

Only when all the details of your order are agreed, will we send you an agreed Factura/Invoice and request payment from you.

Once an order is agreed we require a 50% payment to secure the plants. Plants in the shopping basket are not reserved until an order is placed.

Plants we have but they are still growing into their containers. These are offered for reservation and will be released once they are ready. An estimated date for their availability is given.
