A low, spreading hybrid form of Rock Rose, with a long flowering period through spring and summer. It is also known as the Dwarf Pink Rockrose. Two Cistus species, C. monspeliensis and C. parviflorus, have a geographical distribution that overlaps in Greece and Sicily, which is where this hybrid was first recorded. Smaller than many of the Rockroses it nevertheless gets quite large enough considering the conditions it will grow in. It has soft grey green foliage and will tolerate poor soils, windy and coastal conditions and is drought tolerant surviving on natural rainfall only, although if this fails to arrive, it is a good idea to deep water in Spring. Preference is for a free draining soil, but it will tolerate clays so long as there is no winter waterlogging, so best on a slope in these conditions.
More details
Profuse flowering, the reflective 2-3 cm soft pale pink flowers can almost cover the shrub. Cutting it back in Autumn, just before the rains, will promote a denser bush and possibly an earlier bloom in late Autumn. It is categorised as having a low fuel load, so is fairly safe to have in areas subject to wildfires. A good plant for pollinators and wildlife.
