A vigorous deciduous Mediterranean shrub up to 3 metres, Colutea arborescens is a species of leguminous shrub known by the common name bladder-senna. The bright yellow flowers are pea-like and typically leguminous, appearing in May-June. They are followed by attractive pink bladder-like fruits 8 cm in length, these curious inflated seed pods remain ornamental throughout the whole summer. It has a branching habit when young, but as it ages the base of the plant becomes bare and forms a small trunk. Suited to poor dry soils in full or part sun, it is commonly used as a pioneer species to control soil erosion.

Once an order is agreed we require a 50% payment to secure the plants. Plants in the shopping basket are not reserved until an order is placed.
