A carpeting, evergreen perennial, with thick, soft, white, woolly leaves which typically form a rapidly spreading mat. Attractive pinkish purple flowering stems to 50cm in spring. It is perfect for the front to the middle of a border, and is also commonly used as ground cover.
It is an excellent choice for dry gardens, gravel gardens and rock gardens, and is also loved by the European wool carder bee (Anthidium manicatum), a solitary bee that 'cards' the hairs from the leaves to make a soft nesting chamber into which she lays her eggs.
It is suitable for full sun to partial shade. Native to the Mediterranean, it is extremely drought-tolerant once established. Avoid wetting the leaves during summer as this can lead to some disease and rotting. Not suited to gardens with sprinkler irrigation.
Cut back spent flowers in autumn and remove dry dead leaves.

Once an order is agreed we require a 50% payment to secure the plants. Plants in the shopping basket are not reserved until an order is placed.
